Classical High School (CHS), a college preparatory school, is located in the Providence School District in Providence, Rhode Island. Classical High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Student enrollment includes 77 percent minority students and 63 percent identified as economically disadvantaged.
In order to graduate from Classical High School, a student is required to have a minimum of 22 credits and meet or exceed expectations for the graduation exhibition. The CHS course diploma requires four years of Latin. Additionally, students must complete a Junior Research Technology Seminar that requires an argumentative research paper to exhibited during which the students present their findings and additional information via a form of technology.
Opportunities to expedite earning college credits may participate in both Dual and Concurrent Enrollment courses. 23 Advanced Placement courses are currently offered with 96 percent of CHS students taking the AP exam and 60 percent receiving a qualifying score.
More than 40 extracurricular activities are offered to interested students. The Olympiad, math team, dramatics, and literary magazine have received national acclaim.
